The difference between the Venom. Ocean Runner and Ocean Pro is brand and styling. Theyre all 90 degree 3.0 liter closed deck finger ported loopers. The Intruder is a 60 degree looper.

Bryant,
They had some problem when they first came out. Had factory mods to correct them. Over size jets in bottom 2 carbs & retard timing 3*. Hope this helps. G

...so would the Venom be acceptable to run on a primarily salt water boat, or should I hold off for something else? What are the major differences in the Ocean Pro?

Thanks for the help!
Bryant

I have an Ocean Pro 200HP 1996. It has a serious problem with heat near the top cylinders. I need a rebuild due to broken ring. See my post below. ( Knock or Rattle Low Compression) Ed

The difference between the two is basically styling. Theres no reason to not run it in salt water. That basic 3 liter powerhead was the same from 1993 on. The 96 has the new style wiring. I think they are a pretty darn good motor. Just feed it fresh fuel, good oil, keep water out of the oil tank and use Champion plugs -- itll be fine. Dont lug it. The rev limiter is at 6200. Or 6700. See if you can hit it.
