1996 Johnson 200 Oceanrunner idol

I have a 1996 Johnson 200 Oceanrunner and the engine runs great but tends to stall at idol. When I put in and run in the Gulf the engine will stall when put into neutral. When I pull out of the water and hook the freshwater hose up with ears - it runs fine even at idol. Does anybody know what is causing this???

your idle speed is set too low. i also think that engine has a shift interrupter switch on it. to kill one bank of the engine when shifting, to make shifting easier.
