1996 Force 90hp stalling???

I just bought my 1st boat! 16' Bayliner with 90 hp Force motor. Runs great, starts easy, but when I put er' in gear she often stalls. Sometimes it stalls just idling. This is after the motor is warmed up for a while. Any suggestions would be helpful.

What are the RPM's at idle? Have you done a compression test? Any other history, (carb cleaning, fuel pump rebuilt, old gas?)

Just got the boat and took it for the 1st ride last Sunday. Have not done any testing as yet. I will change the spark plugs in a couple of days when I have time. Gas is fresh, has oil and additive in it.

Do you have a tach? Maybe that your idle speed is set too low. I helped out a guy this past weekend with his first boat and first time out and he had it idling fine, but when put in gear it would stall out. bayliner with 90 hp force and no tach. We adjusted the idle speed screw a bit higher and problem was fixed.

I will increase the idle speed a bit as soon as I can. Thanks for the advice.

I installed new spark plugs this weekend and that did the trick. The motor ran like a top!
