That serial number belongs to a 1993 engine.
When it dies, remove the flame arrestor and pump the throttle and see if you get fuel out of the accelerator pump holes into the throttle bores. When it dies, have you checked for spark? Also, when it dies, how long does it take before you can restart it?

Intermittent stuff can drive you nuts!!!

I'd lean towards loss of spark if you still have fuel when you cycle the throttle. The wire with the tar, is this a high voltage lead, or the low voltage primary lead? Either way your ignition coil should be clean. It may be failing due to heat buildup. I'd try a new one for sure. It matches your symptoms. If that's not it, you have a good spare.

I'd also check the cleanliness of your distributor and check condition on your plugs. Those things don't match your symptoms, but it's a good idea to rule them out anyway.

I'd sure tie a manual guage into the oil to verify your oil pressure isn't low!!

Hope that helps in some small way.

I'm not for sure if it's a high or low voltage but i do know that it has a thunderbolt ignition n I was reading about a sensor in the distribotor that could go bad could this cause this problem? And would overfilling cause the low oil alarm? Thanks
