1996 90 horse merc

1996 95xr no spark issue ,disconnected weather and ignition switch still nothing,most likely the stator? Any help or suggestion would be helpful thanks

Guessing gets expensive.----Do some tests on stator and trigger.----Also charge battery / load test battery and take starter apart for cleaning and ohm test.
