1996 75hp Force

My '96 Force 75 has some type of firing problem this season. The engine seems to skip under accelaration in short bursts. I think it is a firing problem because the engine housing is charged with spark voltage when running. Is there something shorted to ground? Where is the possibility of the problem? This of course is making me pull my hair out!!! HELP! <br />Thanks to whom will tackle this one.

Welcome to iboats.<br /><br />Is the charge on the engine housing intermittent like a sparkplug firing, or a longer burst of energy?<br /><br />You most certainly have a short somewhere.<br /><br />Gonna have to inspect every inch of wire and every connection.<br /><br />**Pay particular attention to the wires leading out from the stator (up under the flywheel).<br />Also, the starter relay and the voltage rectifier.<br /><br />This could be a fast easy fix, or a nightmare, depending on how fast you can find it.

The energy is identical to grabbing the spark plug wire bare handed. Thank you for your time and advice! I will start to check it asap!

Also would you mind elaborating on how to identify the voltage rectfier?
