Hello folks new guy here, purchased 1996 chris craft concept earlier in summer and had to replace block previous owner did not winterize it properly,I put a new long block in and set timing with the shunt at 5 BTDC according to clymer repair manual but the boat runs very badly at this setting,I checked the ignition module and found out it was not advancing the timing so I replaced it and reset timing with shunt at 5BTDC,cut off engine and unplugged shunt to check timing again, timing advanced like is supposed to but still motor runs badly adjusted it to get it to run better,But I wont to set it correctly. The production number is 3856682,type LB 43L TBI,ser no 0000002469,thanks for any assistance in this,I am just stumped only thing I can think is clymer manual has wrong info, thanks for any help

Now I understand.
The LB 43L TBI means it's a Long Block with a SN of 2469.

Sounds like that engine gets replaced quite often.

Anyway, the timing for a 96 should be 5? ATDC, not BTDC. You are 10? off. That is with 87 Octane rated fuel. 0? for 89 and higher.

Also look at this link for proper setting of timing with the EST distributor.
