Hello everyone, thanks for all the wonderful information that is shared here. I have read many posts concerning misfire problems with this engine. My model is a E15FREDR pull start. I have owned this engine since new and had multiple problem while under warranty. Since then it has ran like a champ until recently. Starts fine, runs great until warmed up then misses on one cylinder. I've replaced plugs and wires just to be sure, no help. I will rule out oil and temp sensors today hopefully. My question is should I replace the ignition module next or focus on the coil?

IMO it would be fairly cheap preventative maintenance to put on a new coil and power pack. Check all your grounds and wiring also, make sure there are no bad connections or frayed/melted wires.

i had one of these engines, very hard to find parts for since they were discontinued.mine would start/run when it wanted to,it also had a miss like you explain.i replaced the coil first then powerpack and sold it.be careful changing the powerpack, make sure you line up the flywheel for the optical sensor on powerpack to go through when installing it

Thanks for the help. The ignition module costs almost what the engine is worth, $300 bucks. I not putting any more money in it. I will buy a new engine or complete rig next spring.
