Well it wasn't doing anything at all if the wires were not plugged in.
The wires will be one black, and one tan with an orange stripe.
They will be together in some sort of connector, and if I remember right, the connector is unique in that it only fits the vacuum switch.

One other thing to think about....air leaks. A leak on the inlet side of the fuel pump can suck in air. A leak on the outlet side of the fuel pump will expel fuel, but never suck in air. That side is under pressure. So, if your vacuum switch was leaking, you could have been sucking air in there while running.

EDIT: I put in the wire color.

Thank you! I must have been sucking air because when I took it off the bulb stayed tight overnight which didn't do before. One more question: Can I run a jumper wire in this plug to test if it sounds the alarm? And if so does the engine need to be running?

Yes, you can test it. On the harness side, short the tan/orange wire to ground. The tach "check engine" light will turn on.
THE HORN WILL NOT SOUND unless the engine is running. This is a quirk in the way the System Check tachs operate.

Testing the vacuum switch is easy too. Put a meter across the two leads, set for continuity test mode. You should read an open. Apply vacuum to the nipple where the fuel line tees in, and when it reaches 7 in. of mercury, the meter should then show the switch is closed.

Ok, now I know why it was not plugged in. Stuck on open. I took it apart and the little white thingy wont come out by itself. I pulled it out with pliers and it read closed. I pushed it back in and it did not come all the way back out. So I know its bad. Went to check the plug end and I could not find it. I hope its tucked up under something and not cut off. Where do these wires feed from? No need in buying a new sensor if the plug is cut off.

Wires are in the engine harness.

No, thats not it. Mine has no wires. The plug is part of the housing.
