i have a 95' 150 V6 Ocean Runner. i need help with some info. All of the local repairs guys are 3 to 4 weeks behind. Yes i use it strickly in salt water. i flush the engine within 30 minutes after each use

i started out by replacing the water pump kit last weekend, it is pumping great. while i had the boot on it checking the pumping i noticed a big fuel leak onone of the carbs. It was located onthe bowl where there is a white BB that si used as a seal. i spoke with an Evinrude dealer mechanic and he showed me how to install a 2 part plastic epoxy to stop the leak. So i did so and the leak is now gone. So i ran the boat this weekend and several things started happening that has never happened before.
1) When i run full throttle. my alram beeps at me. When i back off 200 to 300 RPM it goes away.
2) The next morning when i left the ramp it would not accelerate above 35 mph (gps). After driving for about 5 minutes i heard the RPM rev up and the boat took off like a rocket like normal (42 mph). Then the alarm started beeping at me again.
3) Close to the end of the day it was doing the same thing to as item #2 but i could only run about 20 mph without the beeping.
4) When i was finished fishing, i was heading into the ramp and i was able to run the motor full throttle with no problems.

i am assuming sothing is goin on with either the carbs, thermostat, fuel or oil pumps. Can somebody help so i am not sitting at the dock for the next 4 to 5 weeks.

all the ocean runner ocean pros have that plastic carb bowl with the brass shot in it...they leak often...I found you can get the starboard side carbs with the glue trick...but not the port side!!!!!!!!!!!

I think your alarm might be a fuel restriction alarm.....it maybe an over heat alarm....can you verify the motor is touchable? not to hot to toucvh for more than 3 seconds?

if it isnt overheating , then is is most likley the fuel restriction...since it is there, then it isnt, then it is. Id say you got junk in your fuel system/delivery.

and or, your carbs need to be rebuilt....dissasembled, cleaned thouroghly and reassembled with all new gaskets, and wear parts.

if you have a book, there is a pattern to the alarm that tells what the alarm is for....

good luck

fuel restriction is bad and it could cause a lean condition and youll burn a cylinder

Adding to what Bob said, Pull the brass fuel pickup fitting and see if you have an antisiphon valve installed. If so, clean or remove it, to stop the fuel restriction. Are the fule filters clean? Does your motor have a main fuel strainer? Is it clean?

As for the speed issue. Check the color of the spark plugs when it happens. Maybe one is fouling?

Ok guys, the beeping alarm is now gone. i replaced all 6 plugs, fuel filter, checked inline filter (clean), and when i put it on then water it would not get above 1500 RPM and would not plain. After i had the throttle all the way for about 2 minutes the motor RPM revved up and the boat took off. This time the motor would never get over about 4500 RPM and would only run at 35 mph (gps). i used to be able to run about 42 - 43 at 5500 RPM.

i spoke to a mechanic, he thought my power pack was not firing a cylinder so i bought a tester. After getting shocked 6 times i think i am getting spark.

A friend of mine and i purchased a 1996 Evinrude 150 that has a destroyed cylinder so that we can part the motor. My friend has the exact same motor as i do. i took the VRO pump and power pack off and installed on my motor today and ran it on the hose, it was idling rough and sounded like there was a miss/mild backfire. i took it to he lake to run. the motor is now over heating.

When the alarm goes off i can turn it off, wait 10 seconds turn it on and drive for about 5 minutes at about 30 mph, then the alarm goes off. i turn it off for 10 seconds and i can run it at 30 mph. this happens over and over.

i am thinking i need to rebuild the carbs, i will buy the kits tomorrow to rebuild myself. does anybody have any other ideas.
