1996 Johnson 150 90+ compression all cylinders, 650 hrs, carbs rebuilt, new powerpack, new optical sensor. Stopped at a rig offshore, motor idled fine for 5 minutes. Motor began running very rough, multiple misfires, erratic idling would not accelerate, sputtered and died. Restart with same issues, sputtered and died. Could not even get it to run by throttling quickly after starting. Would die when throttled up. Pops, sputters and misses. Pulled 5 pin plug on powerpack to rule out kill switch, same issue. Replaced Powerpack offshore with original which would act up after extended high speed running. Started right up and ran smooth. Kept it under 4000 rpm for 35 miles, no issues. Moved twice more no issues. Stopped on a weedline and went to restart. Started up an idled at 3500 RPM. Killed and initially restarted OK. Few seconds later same issues, popped, sputtered and died. Changed back to original powerpack. 1st try popped sputtered and died. Next try, started ok, and throttled up for trip home OK. Has anyone seen this before? Since it acted up with 2 different powerpacks, I don't think thats it. I know its not fuel as racor seperator filter was checked for water and it is a new Oil injection / fuel pump on it ( less than 10 hrs). Is there anything other than the powerpack or optical sensor that could cause multiple misfires like this. Appreciate any help you could give
