I have a 1995 Mercury 200 xri. It randomly shuts down, even when when on plane. Have changed fuel lines, gaskets, starter, etc. Any one else have this issue or know how to fix it?
Does it just shut off like kill tether pulled or act like run out of fuel. If its like kill tether check the fuse holder as they are know for bad connections. If like out of fuel rebuild the mechanial fuel pump and retest. If no fix remove ground wire trom pump and tape back,install a new ground wire to pump and engine, this bypasses driver in ECU and if runs fine ECU needs repair/replace.If that dont work check fuel pressure and if it drops when it dies the pump is bad.
