I'm trying to remove the lower unit from my engine to replace the water pump and impeller. That lower unit will not drop down after all the bolts are removed. Any suggeststions, tricks? Thank you.
Followed these steps ?--------Removed water intake screens.-----------Scrape paint off the upper shift rod.------Undo coupling nuts.------Slide the UPPER nut up the rod.-------Now remove the wee black plastic keeper.------------Lower unit now comes off.
turn either the flywheel or propshaft while trying to push the lower unit and exhaust housing together.You will be trying to align the splines on the driveshaft so it will slip back into the crankshaft
