Motor is hard to start first time once it starts as soon as you get it on plane it will die, does not matter how long you let it idle after start. Will not start for about 25 minutes after it starts run great the rest of the day. any one have any idea what could be causing this.

How about some background.
Is it new to you
did it run good before,
did you do any work on it yet?
Are you familliar with outboards
do you know how to choke it at the key?

water seperator is a basically a cartridge style fuel filter that seperates water out of the fuel... which is common in many boat gas tanks.

it has a cast head where an oil filter looking cartridge screw up into and you pipe the fuel line in and out...

you could do a search and see what they are... should have one.

did you CLEAN the carbs or REBUILD them??

did you use a carb kit?

or did someone else clean the carbs??

Re: 1995 Johnson faststrike 175 problems

All work on the boat was done by a certified johnson/evinrude mechanic. The boat was not used at all last year so before I bought it the seller took it to the mechanic to make sure everything was ok. It worked great when I first bought it recently is when i have had the problems. I would take it back but I am trying to save some money since the last time it was around $700. The carbs were just cleaned the mechanic said they were still ok.
