1995 Johnson 50 hp no spark

Hello again, posted this last year amd ended up letting boat set for a while. Back on the no spark problem, started over from beginning with diagnostics. Started with kill switch circuit annd got to the point where I replaced ignition switch for high reading with kill cicuit unplugged, replaced switch and still no start, got checking other things and found I have an ohms reading from kill wire coming off engine to boat hull. Are boats wired this way?

Wait a second I may be wrong. If you're talking about putting one lead on the black and yellow wire at the power pack in one lead on the transom it's possible you'd get an ohms reading

Will you get any spark with the black/yellow wire disconnected from the pack ??

No i do not get spark with kill circuit disconnected. Test show power pack faulty low voltage output, this will be the third one and boat has not been in water, will have it Wednesday. Thanks for your time.

Something is wrong if you have to replace the powerpack that often.-----May be cheaper to have shop check this boat out.

You need to check that everything is grounded. You might have a bad battery cable ground. Or the individual components, the CDI and the coils , are not getting a good clean ground to the engine block.

You might also check that somebody didn't install an accessory and use the ignition ground or the black yellow wire ground as a ground for the accessory
