Simple question which will probably have 900 different answers. How hard is it to rebuild the powerhead? Im currently looking at a boat with a 1995 Johnson 225 Ocean Runner Outboard new lower end only 30 hours but the power head is blown. He didn't go into details about what blown is so I emailed him trying to get a little bit more information. Which I will update this when I get that I just wanted to see if maybe there is a common problem with the engine and if there is what is that common problem?

Thanks in advance/

Depends on what is blown, if a rod goes through the crankcase..
it makes more sense to buy a powerhead.

but if a piston melted due to a clogged carb , one cylinder can be bored for $100 , add new piston/rings and gasket set.

you don't have near enough information yet.
