Its been a while since my last post. I'm very comfortable around outboard motors and have worked on them for others for years(mostly merc and Yammi).I've got this intruder motor that is falling on its face when trying to get on plane. It starts and idles great, but once its in gear it starts to stumble and if you go full throttle, it almost wants to get up and boogy, but falls flat and dies. It starts right back up and idle smoothes out. Below is a list of what I've already done to it and some observations.
I have to note, as I said above, I'm fairly versed in outboards and little things like new plugs, anti syphon valves, and new primer bulb have all been checked or replaced. Not trying to sound arrogant or anything, but I dont believe I've missed the obvious stuff that typical weekend warriors get on sites and ask about without checking or replacing first.

This is a 1995 150 V6 with single 6's and a deleted VRO.
Equipped with Optical Ignition

1. Tore all 6 carbs off and cleaned( ultrasonic) and rebuilt with OEM kits( plastic bowls were leaking )
2. Replaced all 6 carb bowls
3. New plugs( yes, Ive got spark)
4. Trademark timing and throttle roller fix has been done
5. Screws are turned out 4.5 turns

The premixed fuel is smoking a liitle more excessive than normal but nothin crazy. Theres no fuel spitting out of the front of the carbs or anywhere else for that matter when in gear or Idle(with boat in the water) Im wondering if I should take the carbs back off to investigate ( Ive rebuilt tons of carbs, but I'm not perfect) or maybe look into the vapor canister(seperator?). Primer bulb stays primed. It appears that its got fuel pressure. When I cover the individual 6 carb throats with my hand, one by one, its pulling fuel from mains up into the carbs. Visually, there is no raw fuel being dumped into the carbs like a bent float or anything.......

What am I missing here, Ladies and Gents?

Can any of you E-Pro's dicipher this situation and help a brotha out?

Pictures and video's available upon request

Thanks Ya'll

Maybe a dumb question... You did clean and transplant the high speed jets from the old float bowls - right?

I have been asking for help about the same problem and I am getting nowhere. Pumping the bulb does nothing to help my 175 Intruder but pushing in the ignition key does allow it to go up a few hundred rpm at a time until I can get on plane. I am considering whether or not to buy a rebuild kit for my vro. Changing the power pack and the optical sensor did not help. It seems that we may have a similar problem. Hopefully, something I have posted will help you.

Post compression numbers for these engines.----Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" or more on all leads ?----Go through / clean vapor separating tank.-----Replace gasket on vapor tank.-----Using the primer puts fuel into the engine and this fuel bypasses the carburetor metering circuits.----That points to carburetor issues.

Thank you Racerone. This info helps me considerably. I do have proper spark. My compression is 90 -96 on mine. The lowest cylinder is 91 and I think that is the one that helps operate the pulses ? I have not done anything to the vapor tank. I haven't found anything so far when I searched for it online. I may not be wording it correctly in my search. I have went through my carbs and everything seems ok. I made adjustments to the needle valves in half turn increments with no luck irregardless of which way I turned them.

if it's not responding to idle needle adjustments, it's drawing in air somewhere. make sure those side plates on the carbs are tight. also make sure you didn't roll any of the carb to manifold o-ring seals... very easy to do! i've had to re-use old ones at times because the ones in the kit just wouldn't stay on no matter what, and you never want to put sealer on them to hold them in.

Thanks. I am ordering 6 new sets of carb kits. Should I look into a vro rebuild kit or am I jumping the gun on that idea ?

if it doesnt respond to pumping the bulb, it probably isn't the fuel pump on the OMS. just a word of caution: ebay is full of horrible aftermarket carb kits. just be sure to get factory or NOS ones. not a spot you want to go on the cheap.
