Put the boat on the water and made a three mile run to fishing spot. Engine ran great until I throttled back to come to a stop and engine shut down and would not re-start. Let set for about thirty minutes and tried it again and still would not start. Engine smelled like it was flooded so I removed plugs cleaned and replaced. After several attempts engine started but would only run a partial speed and no oil alarm sounded. This oil and gas is mixed at a 50:1 ratio and has the correct fuel/oil mix in tank. After squeezeing the primer bulb a few times I attemped to start engine but failed and had to be towed back to landing. After I got back home i was able to start engine.

Not sure what to check. Can some one help.

First thing I would check is to see if you have spark on all 4 cylinders. Does the primer bulb firm up when you squeeze it? What do the spark plugs look like?

Have fire on all four cylinders, primer bulb does get firm and plugs looked good. Someone told me that the engine may be running hot, but it has a good stream coming from the outlet. However after I got home and was able to crank the engine and began checking it out that the water hose on coming from the right bank and going to the exchaust was alot hotter than the one on the left bank. could this be an indication of a heat problem?

The SPL has a standard fuel pump.

If the diaphragm, within, is ruptured, it will flood the engine with fuel.

Start with checking EVERY fuel connection, in boat and underhood.

Second. Replace (or rebuild) the fuel pump.

Third. Use Champion plugs-ONLY.
