Need some help. Started having intermitting starting problems and now have a weak spark I think. I can't get my timing light to flash when spark plugs are in cyl. but it will when they plugs are out. I checked all three cyl same issue. Battery fully charged starter seems to be spinning fine. I checked the plugs and can only get them to jump a1/4 to 5/16 gap . I do not have a DVA to do all the checks. Any Help Please

Running good now just need a little 2 stroke TLC and just to mention pulling starter, tearing down and cleaning made a huge difference Thanks

First thing I would do is remove starter for inspection.-------Motor must spin over fast for proper spark.----Inspect first , do not rush out and buy a new starter !

As posted check starter (amp draw best test) and if passes replace stator..

Check ohms from commutator to the shaft.--This should read infinity.

check your grounds --are they all clean--metal to metal --no paint between -- and tight. Then check same for all other connections in the starting circuit. Make sure plugs are clean and gapped right if not surface gap plugs. Check plug wires ...clean--fitting right. Next may be a check of the rest of the electrical system. Get the CDI troubleshooting manual for that.
