Hi there - new boat owner here. US based
Bought the 97 smoker craft Alaskan side console knowing the motor had issues. Took a ride on it and it seemed to idle ok and rev up to 5k via tach. The seller noted it doesn’t make the power it used to.
Ran a comps check and got 90-60-90. Decided to shock it with seafoam and then decided to pull the head.
Cylinder wall scoring in all 3 cylinders. pics at the link. Pistons heads still had a good deal of carbon build up but don’t look bad.
Curious as to what you all would do? Rebuild? Pick up a new 4 stroke 25? Not looking to spend a fortune but I like the boat and want to fish it. I like the side console but am not opposed to going tiller. I’m leaning towards getting rebuild quotes and repower quotes. I’d pick up a used motor but I’m scared off that now
