Sounds like the oil got low enough to lose it's prime so even though you filled it, it never made it to the motor. I've seen diy numbers on this around $800-1000 but I'll refer to someone more knowledgeable to help you out. Hopefully you can get her back up and running. Good luck to you!

Did you check compression on the other cylinders, or take a really close look? I would think it would affect more than one.

What alarm went off? Is yours a "sound only" alarm or system check alarm which has sound and lights? Either way, which alarm was sounding? Exactly which malfunction was it indicating? Your alarms can indicate 4 different things - "no oil", "low oil", over heat and fuel restriction. What it sounded (or which light went on) and how it behaved when you ran the engine later would indicate which malfunction was going on.

Did it stop when you filled the oil tank? In other words, was it still alarming when you ran the engine just before it quit?

Was the oil tank completely empty - if so did you re-prime it?

Lack of oil would affect all cylinders, wouldn't it? The oil feeds into the fuel pump which in turn feeds all carburetors and cylinders, not just one.

Also, if the oil didn't prime, the alarm should have kept sounding/indicating a problem.
