1995 225hp Evinrude Ocean Pro.

Rebuilt powerhead 30 hrs. Also,
New CDI Power Pak
New Plugs
New VRO pump

Water seperator and fuel filter have 30 hrs

Recently, as I get throttle up to 4000-4200 rpm (WOT) I am getting check engine light/alarm on Faria Tach System Check guage(4 light system)

I replaced fuel line from tank to seperator/seperator to bulb. Using a 12 gallon deck top tank to rule out bad gas tank. New primer bulb.

Any suggestions?

Check the vacuum sensor, 3/8 fuel lines. Passage ways in filter housing and fittings should pass a 5/16 ball or drill bit.

System check tach? Are your controls and gauges the newer type? Does your engine have the red plug, the tach an amphenol ?My boat was outfitted with 1996 binnacle controls and 1996 system check gauges the engine is a 1995 . There was an adapter used which has been a PIA.

Re: 1995 225 evinrude check engine light

Start with the fuel line going into a jerry can since the deck top is possibly designed with a smaller than 3/8th pick up, just a hunch. Also I have read extensively that the check engine light is fuel related since there is already an oil and temp warning light/buzzer built into it, the tach, as well. After that simple cheap fix move onto the complicated electrical stuff like the brown and yellow wire that is not connected.

You could also dump that boat and get your wife a boat she can get onto and off with out throwing a hip...

Good luck

The check engine light means a fuel restriction. Check your fuel system over real good.

Knock at my door....

This is too easy.

Ok what about the check engine alarm. I felt it was a fuel restriction from the start. I boat with Plecofish and it is my external tank he is using. I am almost certain that the pick up in the tank is less than 3/8th inch. All his fuel lines are 3/8th new with new bulb. Possible bad fuel issue with one of 2 tanks before the deck mount tank. That is why we went with the pony tank. The other tank, he has a lot of fuel capacity for a boat that does not go off shore, might be a leaker.

That is for another forum

I know a quick check of the pick up would answer that question. Been busy. Any extra advise to take to the boat in the next few days would be great from any party.

And nursery rhymes are always welcome...

Yes, all internet research has shown that CHK ENG light on this Faria four light system is a fuel restriction.

Going to attempt the test that VinnyS is stating, that is as soon as I can get him to show up! I am hoping it will show that it is indeed the pickup in the 12 gallon mobile tank, which I assume, is not appropriate for a 225 V6 thirsty Evinrude at WOT.

What is the typical pickup, sending unit, valve connector in a boat's internal gas tank? 3/8 across the board?
