This engine sat-up for 8months. I replaced the stator and power pack because it wouldn't start. Afterward the replacement, the motor started but would run rough and cut off. When its cold(first start-up) it would idle OK,but not perfect. Boat Mechanic said the carbs need replacing. I purchased new/used carbs. It ran fine for about thirty minutes continuously. I cut the motor off, and restarted it then it got sluggish. I noticed the temperature rising on the right head(standing behind motor) I cut it off and ran h2o directly by passing the h2o pump on lower unit. I pulled the spark plugs and discovered, standing behind motor, the second cylinder from top on left , the spark plug had dry carbon on it. The rest of the plugs were wet. In process of during a compress test on each cylinder.
In the meantime, I replaced the stator, power pack, plugs, rebuilt and replaced carbs(not warped) , and fuel. Can someone stir me in the right direction. The number two plug concerns me. What is the problem?
