1994 ocean runner

motor has developed a sneezing if you will while setting still idling and at low power under power. Stalls while under way at low rpms. Each time it sneezes it sounds like it drops rpms. Any help would be appreciated.
Its a 94 225
2nd question is I replaced old mechanical sending unit with another. Eye balling the inside of the tank its pretty empty. But guage says 3/4 of a tank. Any ideas on why?

Sneezing usually comes from carb or recirt valve probs. Bad sending unit or gauge.

Do not forget engine temp. Check that both cylinder banks holds even temp, barely to touch at low idle.

im a little lost to what you mean as barely to touch at low idle. just wanted to add that the engine also has a powerful "pee stream" which im not really sure how it translates to engine cooling

If you can hold your knuckles on top of the block when it is idleing for over 5 seconds the mtr is running to cold.
