1994 Mercury 75 Outboard motor

Our Mercury 75 outboard motor on our pontoon boat is not spitting out water. Could be two problems - the clear plastic hose is clogged or we need a new water pump embeller. Is it easy for a novice like my husband to take off the cover of the engine and check the plastic hose for a clog and unclog it on our own?

Yes, he can do that. He can use some heavy leader material or a coat hanger to rod it out. If it does no good, and he isn't good with tools, it's time for a visit to the shop.<br />But don't run it like that, for longer then 2 minutes, or he can damage the engine.
