1994 Merc flywheel question

I have a 94 Merc with electic start that I'm doing a complete rebuild on. After looking at the flywheel I noticed both magnets have come loose. They're not damaged just not sticking any longer to the flywheel. I know that there is epoxy on the market to correct this but my questions are these: 1.) Is it totally garbage now? 2.) Do they have to be in an exact "factory" spot for timing puroposes? (I can see the old glue marks). I just don't want to do all this work to the top end only to screw it up by using this wheel if I should have replaced it. Thanks

Re: 1994 Merc flywheel question

For what it's worth BRP/ OMC has an epoxy kit for glueing the magnets back in. If you get them back in the same spots, I can't see why it won't work. Of course, OMC never had a prob with loose magnets. LOL
