I just inherited this motor, and unfortunately the previous owner removed the lower unit AND completely disassembled the water pump housing and everything inside it.

I am now attempting to put the water pump housing back to how it's supposed to be and found 2 white plastic washers (see pictures) that I thought would go under and above the impeller. However, I could not slide these washers onto the drive shaft (see pictures) because the hole of the washer is smaller than the diameter of the shaft. I also looked at the parts diagram (link below) and found what I think is this washer. If someone is familiar with this particular motor, please let me know how to proceed. By the way, I have ordered a manual on eBay but it will take about two weeks to receive it.

Thanks in advance.
Dustin

Click image for larger version Name:	45.gif Views:	1 Size:	16.2 KB ID:	10926635IF....it is #40 and you only use/need one but since it does not slide over the shaft it may be for a different motor that uses the same water-pump kit.
Post your next question in the Force forum, as this is still & always be a Force :)

The impeller has to seal to the top and bottom (covers) to function. Having a friction reducing washer would allow for bypass and reduce the cooling capacity. As Force Power said, repair kits usually are diverse enough to fit numerous engines. Will bet you those washers have a place, in another/different engine and it won't be in the impeller area.

Thank you both for responding. Since I can't figure out where those washers go, I will leave them out instead of forcing them in somewhere. Man I wish I have a service manual right now or that the previous owner didn't remove everything and throw all the parts in the bag.

There are lots of parts schematics out there for free, that can help you to "figure" somethings out how to put it back together :)

I thought the washers were only used on 1995 models and newer ?
Its been a few years, I might be wrong.

Some pump kits are aftermarket and universal, to fit multiple model years.

Time to confirm motor year.

Thanks for the response. I got a manual and you are correct that the washers are not being used. I think the previous owner bought them thinking he'll need them.
