1994 Force 120 Thunderbolt ignition Tachometer hook up.

Serial No. 0E089004, Anyone know what color (s) wire run a tachometer? I want to hook one up. Also what Tach is needed? Thanks.

You would need a tach for a 20 pole motor The gray wire from the regulator is the wire. If there is not a gray wire one of the yellow ones will do. It measures the A/C pulses from the stator.
Faria made one for the force outboards.

Thank you. Yes I have a gray, red, and 2 yellow wires on the regulator. I'll look for a 20 pole.

Count the poles on your stator to be sure.....Marineengine.com and Crowley both show 2 stators depending on model #.....a 12 and a 20 pole......

CDI puts out a replacement, it looks like the Prestolite stator with a bunch of poles, but it's still a 12 pole.
