1994-95 5hp force water hole

Just bought this motor looks great runs great! Not much water coming from water hole, if it is water where the water comes from? i feel exhaust and a little water but not a Whole lot like my fifty. Im inquiring on this because im use to it, like mercury pouring out not spritzing lightly. ran for 15 min doesnt overheat but concerned. it has four holes in the shaft hopefully this is the way it works. saw newer motor has pipe and hose coming from base of motor. this is on shaft of lower unit. please make me feel better someone.

Is this while it's being run on muffs? Only ask because the two Force motors I've owned put a lot more water out when either on the lake or in a barrel....running on the muffs, though, really decreased the output for some reason.

yes its being ran in a barrel covering suction vents by 2 inches. I felt exhaust pressure and little spritz of water out of the tiny holes on the shaft. ran for fifteen minutes right before i bought it. I could put by hands on the cylinder head probably all day it was that cool. the guy i was buying it from ran it with out water for aminute just to show me it ran, and it was warmer to the touch. definately would not keep my hands on the head. so we ran it in a barrel and he had it in gear water was really moving in barrel and what i notice is what i expained earlier. r these the right holes and is this correct?

The exhaust and most of the water exits through the snout on the bottom of the cavitation plate.The holes on the back are for excess pressure and water.
You might not ever see water there.Unless your running wide open and look back.
But if your concerned change the impeller.I wouldn't feel good till I knew it was new and the oil was changed.J

my 96 40 hp force is the same way.i dnt hardly see water but on the lake wide open it rly pours out of those holes on back.i did change my water pump to be safe though.but the answer to your question is yes its fine.

I installed a telltail on my 1988 85 hp like the johnson and running on muffs I can see the water comming out check out the sticky on installing a teltail on this fourm
