Good afternoon everyone, newbie to your site hear with a question.
I recently purchased a 1994 boat with the 4.3 V/P GL engine. This morning as I was going through things and running it up with the clamshell and hose running, I notice a lot of water running into the bilge. If you are facing aft, the water is running from the right side of the lower part of the engine (port).
There appears to an elbow or fitting there with nothing mounted to it. it this normal or correct or am I missing a hose of some sort?
Any help would be greatly appreciated or if someone has a diagram of what it should look like, that would be great too.

Thanks,

It should't be draining water to the bilge. Might be a hose disconected for winterization. Look for a corresponding hose not attached on one end. Get this figured out before you run the boat more. This could also be a drain petcock depending on what it looks like. If it has 2 "ears" sticking out try turning it clockwise to shut it off. A photo would help.

Thanks James, I will check that. I believe the answer is a hose since it looks like a hose would slide on it.
I will see if I can get a pic of it as well.
Thanks,

As it turns out James, I was way off. The leak was in fact comnig from the casting plug or freeze plug.. It appears I am lucky though, I installed a new plug, checked oil for water, and then ran the engine. I let it run for about 30 minutes, the temp came up as it should and the oil was not milky or containing water after the run up. I will test it in the water this week hopefully. Thank for your help!
