I bought a used motor that was blown as a winter project***cheap***. Upon tearing it apart its pretty bad. Gonna need pistons, crank, rods. I found a used power head on the internet cheap. My question is the following: My serial number is OG219625 with a block casting of 872-9076-C9. Mine is a 1994 with electric start.
I was contemplating swaping out parts from a OD003686 with a block casting number of 872-9076-C2. That guy is telling me that motor is an 1989. According to my chart it appears to be a 1991. Will it work? What do the last two characters (C9, C2) represent. I've found several cranks as well. I have an original parts and service manual from Merc with yet diffent numbers. Mine is stamped 464-8976. I've found 464-8978A2. What's the difference. Were the part numbers superceeded?
