I took my 200 XRI out for the first time since purchasing the boat. the idle was a little rough at first then smoothed out later in the day. Three times during high RPM operation the engine stopped suddenly without warning. The first two times just had to shift to neutral and bump the key for a quick restart, the third time had to bump to high idle and crank some. acceleration was smooth, RPMs were about 5300, water pressure was 17psi, temp gauge inop. prop 14.5X21 High Five, 38mph 1978 Mako M21. Also noticed black soot on the transom and in the splash pan.
