I have a 1993 Yamaha 250 TXRR and am having an issue. It idled fine but when but when I put it into gear it stalled. My mechanic said it was the carbs and they needed to be cleaned and rebuilt. He cleaned and rebuilt the carbs and replaced the Fuel Pumps. I also had a 100 hr. service done at the same time. After all this, it was still doing the same thing. I tested the compression 2 weeks ago and it read 90lbs on all 6 cylinders. It seemed a little low but everywhere I read, it says the most important thing is that they are all the same or within 10lbs of each other. My mechanic is now saying that the compression is too low and this is to blame. He got it to run by adjusting the carbs really really rich. Now it idles ok and runs good at high RPM's but it hesitates and bogs at low RPM's (800-1800 approx.). Does this sound like a compression problem? Any ideas? Please help.

No ideas???

90 psi is about right if the powerhead is a replacement.
if it runs well at speed but not low speed find a real tech with fuel and electrical certificates from yamaha on the wall.
most likly still dealing with fuel issues, could be carbs, pumps or the enrichment circuits.

So i just went out and bought a compression tester and did it myself and it came back 100 psi on all 6 cylinders which from what I've read is about right. So now this is not sounding like a compression issue.

Pay attention to Rodbolt's post, he is the man with the knowledge on these Yamaha's.

90 psi,100 psi its a tester variation.
its also why no one posts numbers for compression.
if the so called tech was concerned he/she should have done a leak down test. there are numbers for that.
anyway your still describing a fuel or linkage issue.
look on that techs wall for fuel and electrical certifications at a minimum.
