Reaching out to everyone here that has ever replaced the lower pivot seal on a 1993 Mariner 75hp 3 cylinder. My seal is partially sticking out where the waffle washer is, above the lower mount. I do have the factory service manual, but details on how to change this out when the whole motor is still together, let alone semi disassembled is lacking in least.

I looked at it and it appears I can take the 2 lower bolts in the mount out, push up on the mount to compress the waffle washers, pop out the lock ring, and the mount will slide off the splined shaft. Now the motor will need to be propped securely while this is going on. Then pry out the old seal (Compression fit like all grease seals) and tap the new one in gently and reassemble in the reverse order.

Seeding I have never done this, has anyone ever done it before? if so can it be done the way I am describing? or do I need to pull the motor off the pivot shaft by means of removing the Upper and lower engine mount bolts and them replace the seal?

Any and all information/advice would be greatly appreciated.

The term seal is used loosely, in this application. There is a bushing, that is plastic and needs grease. You need to keep pumping grease into the swivel shaft to keep her from rusting up, as the '93 motors had steel (not stainless) swivel shafts. That was changed in the newer models.

Not sure what you are trying to do. If the swivel shaft is rusted, you will need to remove it, clean it or replace it. That means, remove gearcase, powerhead and exhaust extension.

You can replace the seal, but you need to drop the gearcase, and find a way to remove the yoke bolts. They usually rust into the motor mounts. That means new bolts and motor mounts. A lot of times the shift shaft needs to come out, which means remove the powerhead, on a lot of models.
