It looks like the wires in that connector connect to the VRO system. The engine block may have pretapped holes from the factory. Some of these later blocks have provision for a small temp sender for a temp gauge. Most of these holes are exactly flat at the bottom-to match the butt end of a sensor.

Why do you want to remove the oil system? there is always holes in motors with no bolts in them.

any dealer will be able to get you a manual, buy a genuine one, not a generic manual (like Clymer or Seloc) or even worse a cheap CD copy off ebay, get the oil system checked/updated, it gives very little trouble and the motor will run a lot better.

The Bombardier dealers can only get manuals back to around the 1998 timeframe. Older than that, they will direct you to their original publisher for the older ones. You can contact Ken Cook Co., from Milwaukee direct or online at: outboardbooks.com. These will be the original factory manuals-the only ones to get.

Re: 1993 johnson 70 hp questions

i got a factory manual for my 95 70hp on ebay for about $25. I have also unhooked vro, i believe that is the correct plug trace it back to the pump and make sure thats where it goes, should have 4 wires in it i believe.

i strongly suggest that you drop the foot and take a peek at the water pump, there are many reports of the 3 cylinder omc having cooling issues and the water pump impeller was changed from 3 vane to 6 vane for better flow/pressure. i toasted my middle cylinder had it rebuilt and then toasted it again... decided to work on it myself at that point and discovered the impeller to be dated from 1995

my saga is detailed here http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=407852 looking back after finding the water pump and learning some things i quite likely disconnected a perfectly functional VRO system. i often ponder reconnecting but am still very much on the fence about it
