I have 1993 johnson 100 model# J100WTXETD. Now the problem. It starts and idles fine. But then put in gear it idles fin but when i got to put it at WOT there is a hesitation sometimes of 5 seconds or more before it starts to actually get any power. The engine had been sitting for two years so i cleaned the carbs... twice, got new plugs, its not vro as i switched to mixed. SO i was wondering what this could be. I have very little outboard experiance but with my trusty clymers and the help of you wonderful people i think i can fix this. Most people i have talked to said its fuel/air but i assumed cleaning the carbs would take care of that.
thank you

check all fuel lines and connections and make sure all your vents are opened.a little air in the fuel system can make it run like that.

"1993 Im going to throw it overboard"

Make sure it's not running when you do, and let me know where you do it at! (it would make a nice replacement for my 1981 70!)

Really though, you said you cleaned the carbs. I would do it again. It took me three times to get the REALLY clean after mine sat for over 2 years. And the looked VERY clean to start with.

are the 93s ecu controled or do they have the mechanical timing advanced like my 81?
