1993 70hp Evinrude ignition issues

Motor hard to crank, getting on and off spark. Once cranked it seems to run fine. Plugs wet, plenty of gas. Sometimes after much grinding, it will just POP and stop. Then may crank. Power Pack???

Could be several things, go to the CDI website and look up your engine, use their trouble shooting guide to help you find your problem.

New issue. I've noticed that, with ignition switch off, I get a slight spark when I connect the battery cable to the battery. This cable only goes to the motor, lights are on separate cable. I had notices after a week or so with no use, battery was getting weak. I also noticed, after sitting for days with battery connected, the power box was warm on the top. Could this indicate a problem with the box? Or is there another place that could be making a constant connection (power drain )?
I have ordered a new power box for my first problem...... maybe that will solve both problems? Thanks

You may also have a bad rectifier/regulator causing the battery cable to spark. Disconnect the red wire coming from the reg/rect and check it again.
