1993 70 Hp evinrude

I have 2 evinrude 70 hps one works perfect and the other needs a little work. the first problem i have is i have a blue and green wire coming out of the tilt and they were disconnected when i got the boat. Can anyone help me on how to get them connected ?????? Thanks

Have they got any terminal ends on them or were they just cut. Take a 12 volt battery and some jumper wires and see if the mtr works. Positive to blue, negative to green for up. Just reverse them for down. Check it first as the mtr may be bad.

i tried that and it makes the noise but does not move up or down... any suggestions ????????

Open up the resovoir and top it up. Cycle 5 to 6 times (if it now works), stopping in the full up position, re fill, cycle 5 to 6 times to the full up position, re fill, etc... until you can no longer add any fluid. It is likely low on oil. If that does not solve the problem let us know.

Also ensure the manual release screw is torqued and not loose.

What kind of noise? Just a growl or a high pitched whine?

@ boobie its the normal noise when it goes up an down.. nothing too loud or whiney.........

@highTrim Im sorry where is the reservoir located ??

ok and the other question is how to connect it to the switch to make it go up and down would be the next step...??? thanks alot for all your help..........
