Should I maybe run a hot wire from battery post to coil and try to start? Maybe there's a voltage drop during the turn over phase?

Do you have a good ground for the distributor on the block? If the bolt and clamp are loose or on paint, you don't have a good ground. What about the ground wire for the module?

Also, does the module amplify the coil output at all? It does seem like the spark is weak inside of my inline tester. It's orange. Maybe on the bench with a battery and a charger hooked up to it, at 12.7 volts it's enough to fire. Since in the boat, it's closer to 11.9 to 12.0 at the coil and that's not making the module fire properly because it is old? I'm reaching here!

11.9 to 12.0 is considered a dead battery. Charge it up.

There is no ground wire on my module. It has 4 wires coming out of it. Red/White, Green/White, Gray and Purple. Unless the gray one is ground and it goes to the negative side of the coil. That might answer a lot of questions if there's a wire missing out of my harness?

And I just wouldn't think it'd be considered dead because it sure spins the hell outta the starter.

Gray is tachometer.
Does your module mount to the distributor or the exhaust elbow.
