New to bass boats and honestly can not afford a brand new one but I came across this 1992 nitro 190 dc for $5400. I am going to go take a look at it tom, was wondering if any bass boat owners (especially 1990s owners) could hook me up with a few tips on what to look for, what should I be checking....etc.
Please forgive me if this is in the wrong forum, figured who would know better than a fisherman. :)

You can fish from any boat that floats so a fishermans thoughts may not be what you are after. There are four areas of concern when buying a boat: 1) Hull condition 2) Interior and floor 3) Engine 4) Accessories. All except item #4 can be very costly to repair especially if the stringers, floor, or interior are in need of attention. Engines can generally be repaired but you can test drive it to determine 1) does it run, 2) does it run well. If the owner refuses to do an on water test, or says all it needs is a tune-up, you best be prepared to 1) run away, or 2) buy the boat for a song because that tune-up generally means something is dreadfully wrong. It there wasn't he would have fixed it or had it fixed. Trailer condition includes tires, frame (rusty or not), working lights, etc. If the trailer has brakes (electric or hydraulic) do they work. If not -- why not. There is nothing wrong with buying a fixer upper. However, you had best be able to do nearly all the work yourself and you cannot do that with a pliers, a screwdriver a thin wallet and zero knowledge.
