I have a vacuum line running from the lower unit through the shaft cowling and I believe into the power head. I cannot locate the source. There is a loop of about one foot exposed above the cavitation plate with a splice in it. I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what this is for and if needed, can that excess be cut down. I have attached a pic. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. It's possible, but I'm not sure why it would be running to the lower unit through the casing. I thought it might be for pressure testing. But than would it run up towards the power head. Got me stumped.

speedo tube... not supposed ta be a "loop" in it.. someone pulled it out when they pulled tha gear case.. bib it attaches to is in front of tha shift shaft in tha gear case... pick up is a tiny hole in tha leading edge of tha gear case..... its supposed to run through tha swivel arm then come out right under tha cowl and attach to tha rest of tha tubing going to tha speedo at tha dash.....

Thanks gentleman. That's exactly what it is. I have never seen that set-up before. Once I had a clue, there's all kinds of info on it. Easy fix. Thanks again
