So I’m gonna get right into this. My brother and I picked up a 1992 KeyWest 1700cc. We paid $1000 for the hull, console, and trailer. We figured this would be a fun project being that KeyWest hulls have no wood in them. Well we made a mistake. After removing every screw we could find we found a lot of wet soft wood. We also found a lot of soaking wet foam. We noticed that the hull is made of the outer hull as one piece and the inside gunnels and floor as another piece. So we put the engine hoist on the bow cleat and began to lift. Well the 2 pieces did not pull apart. I have a lot of questions. First off has anyone attempted to pull the 2 part? Second it seems as if the foam is holding the 2 together. Does anyone know of a quick way to detach the foam from either piece? Once I pull them both apart is it Necessary to put foam back in? If anyone could point me into the right direction maybe a link to a thread where someone all ready did this that would be extremely helpful.

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,...... If that hull is put together like a Boston Whaler, you'd got a virtually Unrebuildable hull,.....

Yes, the foam filled hull provides support to the castings,.... it's Necessary,....

I hope the trailer is a really nice wagon, because that's about the only value in the package,.......
A boat without a motor ain't worth much, by itself,.....

I wonder if you could cut the inside liner around the inside corner . Then maybe in sections that can be pried loose . Then glassed back together .. Idk I have no experience with that type hull .. Just thinking ....
