Hi all,

I am a boating virgin when it comes to inboard outboard boats. So I guess my question is to any boating experts familiar with Glastron boats. This boat is advertised as runs well, new starter and battery. I know the interior needs work. The seller made that clear up front. However I just want to know if there are any obvious red flags to look for in a purchase. This guy seems to be on the level and merely wants to sell it in an estate sale. The fact that the price point is way lower than the retail used market for this model concerns me a bit. It may just be a great deal. Please let me know what you all think. Opinions appreciated.

Thanks everybody.

Welcome to boating. Read the sticky at the top of this forum. Boat buyers checklist. That will be very informative with regard to what to be looking for on ANY boat. Good luck

If the floor has soft spots in it then so likely do the stringers and possibly the transom. That is pretty old for a fiber glass boat.
If you do by it make sure the seller takes you for ride on a lake to verify how it runs. Running the motor on the garden hose/muffs doesn't prove much.

Thank your for your reply and the helpful information. I definitely do not want to buy a large flowerpot for the yard. LOL.

If the interior is beat, that would be a red flag for me. Your biggest concern is rot, everything else is relatively simple/easy/cheap to fix. A boat that has been left uncovered or in the water is much more likely to rot...
Pay special attention to the area around the ski locker (see if it's dry or seems like it's spent a lot of time wet) engine compartment, rear corners. If you find *any* soft spots, walk away
