1992 Force Sitting 7yr

Have 1992 Force 70hp, Been sitting for about 7yr without being
run, What should I do before trying to start this motor after sitting so long?

Chances are motor is locked up so your gonig to need to free it up by spinning the Flywheel manually. use a rachet on the flywheel bolt to turn it if you cant get it to spin after it starts spinning spin it a few times, thats a start. it might be really really really tough and your going to go through a few rachets too i had to free up a 87 Merc 200 BlackMax went through 3 craftsman rachets with a 3 foot peice of condo-it on the end before it free'd up, of cource after you get it running id change the lower unit oil and the whole water pump. if you dont get it free'd by a rachet you might have to alternate from bumping the starter to rachet becareful to not overheat the starter once you see smoke stop. let it rest a while before you try to bump it again.

Also, Remove the plugs and spray some WD-40 or PB Blaster in the plug hole to lube the piston it might make it a little easier.


Also leave the plugs out.

Marvel Mystery oil from walmart. About a pint in each cylinder let sit for a couple of hours then do what numbaone says. PB Blaster is good too however WD40 is not much of a penetrating oil and has no lubrication whatsoever. If it fires up rebuild the fuel pump, carbs, water pump and all the rubber hoses. What ever you do do not use any gas that might still be in there.
