I'm looking to buy a used bowrider, in the 1990 model year range (based on budget constraints). I've found a 1992 Excel SX, 18.5'. 110hp Volvo I/O. Very clean. Very sharp. One owner boat. All that said, I've never heard of this boat and can't find anything online (e.g. similar boats for sale, etc.). I found a manufacturer called Excel, but their line seems to be exclusively fishing boats. Boat is priced at $6500. Has anyone ever heard of Excel? Does anyone know this boat? Since I can't do any research, I can't determine if $6500 is a good price. Second, will a 110hp I/O give me enough pull for waterskiing? (Mostly kids, but some good sized teenagers.) We currently ski behind a 1972 16' Glastron with a (1980) 85hp Merc outboard. "Back in the day" it was great, but is now very tired and can barely pull my 80-pound children up on skis. What am I getting into with an 18.5' with a 110hp I/O?

Welcome to iboats:cool:

I'm not familiar with that particular boat, but the price sounds way too high for an 18.5', 18-year-old bowrider with a 4 cylinder engine.

Couple concerns. That price is too high for an older Excel (which is or was Welcraft's value line) with a 4 cyl. My second concern is that those 80lb children are only going to get bigger. I'd recommend finding something with a 4.3 if watersports is your thing. dg512055's Excel above would be real nice :)
