My first post here, let me know if I give good info and thanks in advance.
I have a 1992 90hp Evinrude, Model E90TLEND. I am the 2nd owner and have had it about 5 yrs. The Tilt/Trim has worked with no significant issues since I bought it, a small bit of jitter and whine sometimes when raising/lowering but nothing big. This week, though, it has stopped working.
Here's my description and steps I've taken:
The boat is in the water and I was able to raise/lower the engine fine two weeks ago. The battery is charged.
When I press the raise/lower switches on the throttle or on the engine, the tilt motor runs and makes the same noise it always has. It seems to sound fine and operational. However, the engine is in the up position and it will not move at all, not even a twitch. I know what relays are and they seem to be working, electrically things seem OK. None of the hydraulic arms moves at all.
I have topped off the hydraulic fluid reservoir, run the tilt motor a few times in each direction, let it sit, added a bit more fluid. This has has no effect and the motor has not moved at all yet. It does appear that there is some leakage of hyrdo fluid when I press the raise/lower switch - I see a very small oily film spread on the water when I press it.
I have tried leaning against it pushing down while I pressed the down switch.
What else can I share to help with answers? If this were your boat, what else would you be trying?
Thank you very much for suggestions!
