1991 mercury 150 outboard black max

This my first post and lneed help with my engine it's a 1991 mercury 150hp black max, rebuild the carbs and reed values and I am having trouble with it idling and shuts off when trying to put it in Gear, now it want crank up for long without shutting down a to like it not getting gas.
Any suggestions need help.

You might repost this in the Mercury OB forum. They will ask you for compression numbers and spark on all 6 cylinders.

I had the compression tested all the cylinders are fine.

first of all, "why did you get (decide ta work on it) into tha motor ta start with???".. when you rebuilt tha carbs were new gaskets used throughout including new accel. pump parts?.. was a link n sycn and timing done?... does it help if primer bulb is pumped when trying ta keep it running?.. did you use a manual (0em) with whats been done or was it justa "wing-it" done thing?
