1991 Johnson 40hp motor problem

So like an idiot i ran out of fuel last weekend fishing, so during the week i filled the tank with the 50:1 mixture it requires. When i put it on the lake this weekend it started up fine, but after a couple minutes it killed and didnt want to start back up. Anybody have any ideas?

Have you done anything to try and find out what happened? Check plugs, check for spark, check to see if you're getting fuel

I was not able to check it last night because it was dark. Checking for spark and the plugs is easy enough, how do i check to make sure it is getting fuel?

Is the VRO still connected?
If so your carbs are filled with oil after you ran out of fuel.
Remove he drain plugs, flush with fresh fuel, then try to start.
