I changed the lower gear lube and greased the Gimbal bearing.
There is no upper and lower unit gear lube. It is all one cavity. You drain from the lower hole and fill from the middle until it comes out the top dipstick hole. Is that how you filled it?

I realize the one cavity thing. It was simply my use of words. In any event, I DID NOT fill from the side vent hole. From the bottom. And yes, the book says to fill from this vent hole but never said why. Unfortunately I had a Merc that filled from the bottom so it is force of habit. But, it did run fine with muffs and one hour on the lake. It appears I got lucky again. So, I am going to drain it again anf re-fill. After reading the bottle I am not happy with the grease anyway unless you feel it is fine. Before I was using Evinrude/Johnson SYNTHETIC oil (Blue). I thought I purchased the SAME product again but it was not blue. I read the bottle carefully and it says SYNTHETIC ADDITIVE. So it is different from what I was using before. Not a good mix with Synthetic and Synthetic additive? I am betting it is a DO NOT MIX BOTTLES thing.

To answer the next thread, I DID put exactly 64 ounces into the drive and it DID check dead full on the stick. But now, even after running for an hour, air pocket risk? Probably not but why push it? Thanks all

Exactly 64 ounces! It checked dead full on the stick too. Still air pocket risk after one hour running on lake? going to change it again anyway. I don't need the worry. Thank you.
