Hello.

I need some help trouble shooting. This is a 1991 Evinrude 175hp outboard.

The motor is not charging my batteries. With the motor off I get 11.8 V it the batteries, and with it running there is no change.

My tach is also not working.

I need some help testing if it is the voltage regulator or the stator.

So far the only test I tried was to read the OHMS from the 2 YELLOW wires coming from the stator at the plus where they into the plug at the voltage regulator. My results are 0 OHMS.

Is this the correct test to test the stator? How do I test the voltage regulator.

Anyone have a manual for this motor they could email me?

Thank you

o ohmns sounds like the problem. try between each wire and ground to check its not grounding to earth somewhere
start it up and measure the voltage AC see if you get any voltage reading

Thanks. So I already pulled the stator and still 0 ohms so it is def bad. Would this have caused my rpm guage to not work though? And how can I test the voltage regulator ? Thanks

yes the rpm guage works off the ac timing pulse from the stator.
voltage regulator/rectifier you test by checking continuity in each wires direction, hard to explain but if you search test for rectifier on this site you will definitely find it
